Matthew Wachterhauser - Owner/Program Director

Dr. John Spencer Ellis

Matthew Wachterhauser brings 7 years of personal training experience to the East Lansing Adventure Boot Camp. Having earned the prestigious National Strength and Conditioning Association- Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT) credential in 2005, he began his training career in downtown Chicago. Matthew has worked with more than 100 people on an individual basis during his fitness career helping those committed to his system achieve their realistic fitness goals.  He has been mentioned in the Chicago Red Eye newspaper and received acclaim for his work in preparing a novice climber to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro.  In 2008, Matthew added the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Association (NESTA) certification to his resume and also decided to move to East Lansing to be closer to family.

Originally from Alpena, Michigan Matthew has always been active in athletics, especially basketball. He currently ranks in the top 15 in Michigan high school basketball history for three point field goals in a season. He admits to being a little rusty these days with his basketball shot but will welcome any challenger to a shoot-out! Today Matthew enjoys strength training, trail running, sporting events and movies. In addition to his work as a personal trainer, Matthew is also finishing up his bachelors degree through the University of Michigan - Flint.  Anyone that knows him, will say that Matthew has a large collection of motivational quotes; here is one of his favorites:

"There is a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested  in something, you do it only when circumstances permit.  When you're committed to something you accept  no excuses, only results."

Through the East Lansing Adventure Boot Camp, Matthew is thrilled to bring this dynamic and exciting approach to fitness to mid-Michigan. He is eager to educate and help every camper maximize their potential and realize that exercise can be affordable, fun and effective.
